Electronics Technician - Digital Radio Equipment

About the role

L3Harris Australia is recruiting an Electronics Technician for its Regional Support Centre (RSC) in Pinkenba, a maintenance support unit for the L3Harris Defence Australia programs. The role focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing a large fleet of digital radio equipment so that serviceable assets are returned to users quickly. As part of the Maintenance Team, you use RF, digital and analogue diagnostic expertise with test instrumentation and automated test equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and repair digital and analogue RF equipment and ancillaries using test instrumentation and equipment.
• Document diagnostic findings, corrective actions and solutions using data collection and ERP software.
• Analyse failure trends and help with continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support engineering investigations, analysis and product improvement, and give technical feedback to management, engineers and peers.
• Coach and assist peers to build team capability.
• Maintain quality standards and comply with Health and Safety legislation and policies.
• Provide direct customer and end-user technical support, including on-site work when required.

Required profile

• Certificate III in an applicable technical trade (minimum).
• NV1 security clearance (baseline required before starting).
• At least 4 years' experience in an applicable trade.
• Ability to obtain an Australian Government Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance.

Preferred skills

• Prior Australian Defence Force technical maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of the Department of Defence ERP program.
• Understanding of trunked radio systems and the P25 digital radio standard.
• RF, digital and analogue circuit diagnostics down to component level.
