Electrician - Cement Plant

About the role

Cement Australia, Australia's largest cement producer, is looking for an experienced electrician to join its team in Gladstone. The plant includes a 1.7 million tonne per year clinker kiln, a lime kiln, two cement mills and material handling equipment. Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader, you will maintain and run electrical systems across the site, attend to breakdowns and work alongside the Production and Engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and run electrical systems across the site
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections
• Respond promptly to breakdowns with strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Take part in toolbox talks and pre-start risk assessments
• Work independently and collaboratively in a high-performing team
• Uphold OHS standards and site safety procedures at all times

Required profile

• QLD Electrical Licence
• Proven electrical maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment
• Current CPR / LVR and a high-risk and hazardous work licence
• Day shift, 6:30am to 3:30pm on a 9-day fortnight; the fortnight does not apply during annual shutdowns and extra hours are required then

Required skills

• HV switching
• PLC control systems and variable speed drives (VSDs)
• SAP or similar maintenance systems
• Certificate III in Instrumentation (highly regarded)
• Refrigeration or HVAC experience (highly regarded)
