Electrical Technician – Baggage Handling Systems

About the role

As an Electrical Technician you will join the team that maintains the critical infrastructure at Sydney Airport. This 6‑month fixed‑term contract focuses on the reliability and performance of the Baggage Handling Systems, ensuring smooth passenger flow.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee operation and electrical maintenance of Baggage Handling Systems to support continuity of service.
• Perform fault finding, emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance on BHS equipment.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to maintain system performance, including during contingencies.
• Provide technical input to resolve complex system issues and support operational decision‑making.
• Ensure all activities comply with safety, quality and environmental requirements.
• Identify risks and improvement opportunities to enhance system reliability.

Required profile

• Electrical Trade Qualification with relevant post‑trade training or certifications.
• Experience maintaining and fault‑finding on conveyor or material handling systems.
• Working knowledge of SCADA systems and PLCs; exposure to Siemens S7 and Citect SCADA preferred.
• Experience in security‑controlled or high‑compliance environments such as airports.
• Strong problem‑solving skills in operational or maintenance scenarios.
• Ability to work at heights and perform manual handling tasks.
