About the role
UGL is seeking an experienced, safety‑focused Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support capital upgrades at an alumina smelter in Portland, Victoria. This permanent, full‑time position is on‑site and ideal for local candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Perform electrical and instrumentation inspections, repairs, upgrades and calibrations on fixed plant equipment.
- Support breakdowns, shutdown activities and equipment upgrades across critical processing assets.
- Carry out fault‑finding, loop checks, testing and verification of instrumentation devices.
- Diagnose electrical and control system issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Complete documentation, reports and records to meet quality, safety and statutory requirements.
Required profile
- Trade‑qualified Electrical Instrumentation Technician, Electrician with Instrumentation or equivalent.
- Experience in mining, minerals processing, alumina/bauxite or heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork and high‑quality workmanship.
Required skills
- Strong technical capability with HV/LV electrical systems.
- Proficiency with PLCs, instruments, transmitters, control valves and analysers.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs and loop diagrams.
