Electrical & Instrumentation Asset Improvement Coordinator – Gas Processing

About the role

BlueScope Steel is looking for an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Asset Improvement Coordinator to join the Gas Processing Maintenance team at Port Kembla. The role focuses on improving reliability, availability, maintainability and performance of electrical, instrumentation, automation and control‑system assets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and support for planned and breakdown maintenance tasks across electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Fault‑find, diagnose and resolve issues involving HMIs, drives, PLCs, instrumentation and electrical distribution, leading root cause analysis and reliability investigations.
• Investigate equipment failures and maintenance history to identify recurring problems and develop improved maintenance strategies.
• Develop scopes of work, technical specifications and project execution plans, and coordinate site execution including planning, scheduling, permits, safety and contractor management.
• Ensure plant modifications comply with engineering, change‑control processes and relevant legislation, and keep technical documentation up to date.
• Assist with capital, R&M and SDC budget preparation, forecasting and expenditure management.

Required profile

• Minimum electrical trade qualification.
• Experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing or continuous‑process environment with electrical, instrumentation, control systems or automation exposure.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability.
• Experience developing or reviewing maintenance and asset strategies and coordinating work across maintenance, operations, engineering and contractors.
• Ability to prioritize competing requirements and take ownership of improvement outcomes.
