Electrical Engineer / Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

An established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is expanding organically and has opened a position for an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer, ideally based on the Sunshine Coast with flexibility for Brisbane. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will own end-to-end electrical engineering scopes across mineral processing and mining infrastructure projects, with a strong focus on detailed design and on-site commissioning, while supporting and mentoring developing engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver end-to-end electrical engineering packages from preliminary studies and detailed design through to site commissioning.
• Develop single line diagrams, schematic diagrams, termination drawings, cable schedules and equipment layouts for industrial and mineral processing plants.
• Perform electrical calculations such as cable sizing, maximum demand, voltage drop and fault level assessments.
• Prepare equipment specifications, datasheets and technical documentation for switchboards, motor control centres, transformers and variable speed drives.
• Take part in site inspections, factory acceptance testing and site commissioning.
• Coach, mentor and guide junior engineers and technical drafters.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) with eligibility for Engineers Australia membership.
• Current RPEQ / CPEng status, or an immediate pathway to registration.
• Proven track record in electrical design and site commissioning, ideally in mining, minerals processing or heavy industry.
• Strong working knowledge of Australian standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS/NZS 3008, and relevant mine safety regulations.
• Confident collaborating with clients, suppliers and site teams, and a collaborative team player.
