Electrical Engineer – Oil & Gas, Mining & Utilities

About the role

Verbrec, an ASX-listed engineering, operations and asset management company with over 600 team members across Australia and New Zealand, is looking for two locally based Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers in Brisbane. The team is growing and the engineers will work on current and ongoing projects in the oil & gas, mining and infrastructure utilities sectors, from initial concept through detailed design, installation and commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply relevant standards and specifications in the design process
• Work on LV and HV system design, cable sizing, PLC and remote I/O panel wiring, protection systems, substations, instrumentation, motor controls and switchboards
• Perform HV and LV power system modelling and protection design using ETAP, Power CAD and Elek
• Prepare technical documentation such as study reports, scopes of work, equipment specifications and datasheets
• Prepare and review electrical drawings including single line diagrams, schematics and terminations
• Self-monitor progress, productivity and schedule, and deliver projects on time, on budget and to client standards
• Work onsite to support clients and perform project tasks

Required profile

• 3+ years of current electrical and instrumentation engineering experience
• Project, site or consultancy experience
• Clear understanding of AS/NZS 3000:2018
• Experience in mining, infrastructure and/or utilities engineering is valued
• Full working rights in Australia

Required skills

• ETAP, Power CAD and Elek for power system modelling and protection design
• AutoCAD and/or MicroStation drawing packages (added value)
• Testing and commissioning experience (FAT, SAT) is added value
