Educational Technology Designer

About the role

James Cook University (JCU) is hiring an Educational Technology Designer for its Graduate Research School on a 2-year fixed-term, full-time position (36.25 hours per week) based at the Townsville Bebegu Yumba campus. The designer creates engaging, accessible and scalable online professional development, turning priority face-to-face offerings into digital learning experiences that support HDR candidates and researchers.

Key responsibilities

• Create engaging, accessible and scalable online professional development for researchers and research students
• Transform priority face-to-face offerings into high-quality digital learning experiences
• Design and maintain online learning modules and apply emerging technologies
• Work with academic and professional colleagues, subject matter experts and Colleges
• Use learner insights to continuously improve outcomes

Required profile

• Qualifications and/or experience in instructional design, educational technology or a related field
• Talent for working with subject matter experts and turning complex concepts into clear, pedagogically sound learning
• Understanding of the higher education environment and commitment to inclusive, accessible and equitable learning
• Comfortable applying generative AI and other educational technologies responsibly and ethically
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills

• Pay of $99,878.44 - $110,446.52 per annum plus up to 17% superannuation
