Education Support Trainee

About the role

Westvic Staffing Solutions, in partnership with Cann River P-12 College, is offering an Education Support Traineeship starting in Term One 2027. The trainee works under the guidance and direct supervision of a teacher, supporting the school's teaching staff so that classroom and recreational programs run smoothly and efficiently. The role is paid, full-time (38 hours per week, Monday to Friday) and leads to a nationally recognised School Based Education Support qualification.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with student educational activities and programs, and help students access the curriculum and take part in learning
• Support daily routines, transitions and programs of young children, and monitor students during classroom and outdoor activities
• Care for students' social, emotional and physical needs, and support students with EAL and with disability and additional needs such as ASD
• Support the development of literacy and numeracy skills
• Prepare materials, equipment and classrooms, and assist teachers with supervision of students and yard duty
• Help set up and run sport, cultural and community events, and assist with administration tasks such as editing documents, photocopying and laminating
• Attend staff meetings and training such as First Aid, and assist in the canteen and out-of-school-hours care programs
• Take part in excursions and events, which may include overnight school camps

Required profile

• Working With Children Check
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently
• Reliable, respectful, organised and conscientious
• Positive attitude and effective communication skills
• Willingness to complete online study requirements for a nationally recognised Certificate III, IV or Diploma qualification
