Early Childhood Teacher

About the role

Join Banksia Cottage, an early learning centre on Macquarie University’s Wallumattagal Campus, to inspire curiosity and nurture a lifelong love of learning in children aged 0‑5. You will work under the Centre Manager, leading a small team to deliver an inclusive, high‑quality educational program.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and evaluate the educational program, maintaining developmental records.
• Apply child development knowledge to support children’s learning, wellbeing and relationships.
• Collaborate with a diverse team and engage positively with families.
• Supervise a small team, provide coaching, and undertake Room Leader and Responsible Person duties as required.
• Ensure compliance with the Early Years Learning Framework, National Quality Standards and child‑protection policies.

Required profile

• ACE‑approved degree in early childhood education and current NESA accreditation.
• Experience working with children aged 0‑5 in an early learning setting.
• Ability to supervise children safely, maintain a clean environment and act as a Mandatory Reporter.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues.

Required skills

• Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office 365.
• Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and related legislation.
