Divisional Assurance & Governance Manager (12‑Month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

The Divisional Assurance & Governance Manager will provide independent first‑line assurance across ANZ's Australia Retail division. This 12‑month fixed‑term position supports governance reporting, risk management and control effectiveness to drive better customer outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Produce data‑driven insights for risk governance reporting through targeted analysis and thematic assessments.
• Prepare high‑quality assurance reports, management summaries and executive briefings.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of controls, identify gaps, emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
• Monitor remediation of management actions and ensure timely issue resolution.
• Provide independent challenge to risk‑management practices and control environments.
• Support uplift activities that strengthen operational resilience, compliance and customer outcomes.
• Build trusted relationships with business, risk, compliance and assurance stakeholders.
• Partner with the NFR Advisory & Controls team to review and challenge activities against policy and framework requirements.

Required profile

• Significant experience in risk assurance, governance or related functions within a financial services environment.
• Strong analytical ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Proven stakeholder‑management skills across business, risk and compliance groups.
• Ability to work independently and challenge existing processes constructively.
