Diverse Learning Teacher (0.9 FTE)

About the role

A temporary part-time position (0.9 FTE) at Mount Carmel Catholic College, Varroville, NSW, running from 28 January 2027 to 26 January 2028. The teacher supports teachers in meeting the needs of diverse learners in both mainstream and specialist settings by designing educational and pastoral interventions for students with additional needs, while supporting student wellbeing and teaching as required and as directed by the Principal.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain an orderly, safe and supportive learning environment based on the principles of PB4L
• Design educational and pastoral interventions for students with additional needs
• Support student wellbeing and teaching as required, and carry out duties as directed by the Principal
• Plan and deliver effective teaching and learning in Key Learning Areas (KLA)
• Use a range of assessment strategies and analyse data to inform student learning
• Engage professionally with colleagues, parents and carers and the wider school community

Required profile

• Deep understanding and commitment to the mission of the Catholic school within the Catholic Church
• Commitment to the Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW)
• Appropriate teaching qualifications; Level B accreditation under To Work, Teach and Lead, or a commitment to gain it within five years
• Registered to teach with NESA
• Working With Children Check (WWCC) required before employment

Desirable

• Special education qualification or experience teaching in a specialised setting
• Experience adjusting class work and assessment for students with disabilities
• Experience leading parent and carer meetings and developing personalised learning plans
• Understanding of the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and the NCCD data collection
