Distribution Operations Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Distribution Operations Manager to lead a high‑volume, highly automated modern distribution centre for a leading FMCG organisation. This people‑focused, commercial leadership position will drive warehousing, distribution, safety and service excellence while balancing cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop warehouse operations teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Drive performance across warehousing, dispatch, transport coordination and inventory movements.
• Deliver warehousing services at optimal cost while maintaining high customer service levels.
• Analyse operational data and KPIs to identify improvement opportunities.
• Manage workforce planning, labour management and performance coaching within a unionised workforce.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve procedures, processes and work instructions.
• Partner with transport providers, planning teams, customer service and internal stakeholders for seamless execution.
• Lead Lean, continuous improvement and problem‑solving initiatives.
• Manage operational budgets, cost controls and productivity targets.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of management experience in a distribution centre.
• Leadership style that balances strategic vision with day‑to‑day operations.
• Strong ability to see the big picture while managing detailed execution.
• Excellent communication skills for building relationships across teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
