Disability Support Worker - St. Giles

About the role

St Giles, a Tasmanian disability services provider since 1937, is looking for skilled Disability Support Workers to join its support services team. The role focuses on working with individuals who have complex trauma backgrounds, challenging behaviours and emotional dysregulation. It is a part-time position across a range of shifts, including sleepovers and active nights.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to children with complex trauma backgrounds.
• Understand and address the complexities of supporting children with challenging behaviours.
• With the Frontline Leader, develop and implement strategies to manage complex emotional dysregulation.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care.

Required profile

• Part-time availability across a range of shifts, including sleepovers and active nights.
• Minimum qualification of Certificate III in Disability Support Services.
• Experience in the health or disability sector; knowledge of NDIS and participant/family centred practices is desirable.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working with complex trauma and emotional dysregulation.
• Current working rights, with evidence provided during the interview process.
• Current driver's licence.
• Current or able to obtain a National Police Check within 3 months, and a Working with Vulnerable People Card or NDIS Worker Screening Check.

• Well-developed organisational and time management skills, including prioritising workload with minimal supervision.
