Director – Regional Services (Big Rivers)

About the role

The Department of Children and Families is seeking a Director for its Regional Services – Big Rivers unit in Katherine. This senior position provides strategic leadership across service planning, professional practice oversight, workforce development, risk management and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of high‑quality, culturally responsive services for vulnerable children, families and communities.
• Provide expert advice to executive leadership on complex operational and strategic matters.
• Oversee professional practice standards, workforce planning and risk management frameworks.
• Drive continuous service improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practice and innovation.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior administrative or leadership roles within the public sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large, multi‑disciplinary teams and complex programs.
• Strong understanding of child and family services, cultural responsiveness and community engagement.
• Proven track record in strategic planning, risk management and service improvement.
