Director, Private Business Tax

About the role

PWC is seeking a Director to lead its Private Business Tax team, providing tax planning, compliance and advisory services to high‑net‑worth individuals and privately‑owned businesses across Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Manage client engagements, building trusted relationships with private business owners and key stakeholders.
• Lead tax compliance, planning and advisory for complex structures including trusts, companies, partnerships and individuals.
• Oversee tax return preparation and review to ensure accuracy, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Advise on tax‑efficient strategies such as succession planning, M&A, restructurings and support clients through ATO reviews or audits.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Australian business and private client tax, with a proven track record leading complex engagements.
• Demonstrated ability to grow and maintain trusted relationships with private business owners, family groups and stakeholders.
• Strong commercial mindset, capable of identifying client needs, managing tax risks and delivering practical solutions.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and fostering a collaborative, high‑performance team environment.

Required skills

• Complex corporate tax compliance and consulting, including consolidation, restructuring and M&A advisory.
• In‑depth knowledge of Australian tax legislation, ATO processes and audit support.
