Director, Practice Optimisation Lead

About the role

Morningstar is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Practice Optimisation Lead to build and lead its practice optimisation proposition for Managed Portfolios in Australia. Reporting to the Head of National Sales, this senior client‑facing role will shape value‑add services that help financial advice businesses improve productivity, profitability and client outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously enhance Morningstar Australia’s Practice Optimisation proposition, creating frameworks, tools and resources for advice businesses.
• Provide strategic consulting on client value propositions, investment philosophies, pricing models, business growth, scalability, succession planning and M&A.
• Represent Morningstar at industry conferences, client events and professional forums, producing thought‑leadership content such as whitepapers and podcasts.
• Partner with the global Behavioural Insights team to translate research into practical adviser‑ready frameworks.
• Design and deliver a “Train the Trainer” program to equip the Managed Portfolio Sales Team with deeper practice optimisation capabilities.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience building, managing or leading a successful financial advice business.
• Strong personal brand and credibility within the Australian financial advice industry.
• Proven track record of helping advice firms improve growth, profitability and operational effectiveness.
• Outstanding presentation and communication skills with experience engaging both individual advisers and large conference audiences.
• Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of financial advice practice operations, investment philosophy development and client value proposition design.
• Expertise in pricing frameworks, commercial models and M&A processes for advice businesses.
• Ability to develop and deliver training programmes for sales teams.
