Director of Nursing, Mount Isa

About the role

The North West Hospital and Health Service is recruiting a Director of Nursing for Mount Isa, a permanent full-time leadership position. You will lead nursing and midwifery services across North West Queensland, driving service improvement, strengthening workforce capability and championing safe, high-quality care across multiple sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and professional direction across designated nursing and midwifery services, programs and portfolios within the North West Hospital and Health Service.
• Work with executive leaders and multidisciplinary teams to oversee clinical and corporate governance.
• Lead service planning and innovation, and drive performance, quality and safety initiatives that benefit patients, staff and communities.

Required profile

• A relevant tertiary degree and appropriate registration or licence.
• Master of Nursing well regarded; a postgraduate qualification or current enrolment in a relevant postgraduate program is highly desirable.
• Monday to Friday business hours, with possible on-call duties and travel to facilities or units within the service.
• C Class motor vehicle licence; pre-employment screening including criminal history checks.
• As a VPD risk role, evidence of immunity to Hepatitis A/B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pertussis and tuberculosis may be required.
• A period of probation may apply.

What we offer

• Isolation bonus of AUD$3,695 for 1 year, AUD$11,085 for 2 years, and AUD$7,390 for each subsequent year (pro rata for part-time).
• Two return airfares per year to the nearest east coast provincial city for full-time employees, or one for part-time, during recreation leave.
