Director, FIG (Banks) Relationship

About the role

The Financial Institutions Group (FIG) is a priority segment within ANZ’s Institutional business, focusing on growth. This senior position leads the FIG AU Banks Relationship Management team, managing key International Bank relationships and driving revenue and strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of International Bank clients to achieve revenue, return and economic profit targets while ensuring sustainable outcomes.
• Build trusted, long‑term relationships with senior client stakeholders, positioning ANZ as a strategic partner.
• Collaborate with internal teams—including Credit, Product, Treasury, Legal, Operations and Relationship teams—to deliver clear client strategies aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
• Originate and deliver complex, multi‑product banking solutions across Transaction Banking, Capital Markets/Treasury and Global Market solutions.
• Drive strong governance and act as the first line of defence for credit and non‑financial risk.
• Lead and develop junior team members, fostering a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Strong financial services background with deep experience across FIG and international banks.
• In‑depth knowledge of Institutional Banking, including Capital Markets, Global Markets, Treasury and Transaction Banking products.
• Proven ability to manage complex discussions with senior stakeholders and negotiate effectively.
• Experience in detailed account planning, cross‑sell opportunity identification and development of customer strategies.
• Track record of originating and executing complex transactions.
• Understanding of credit risk, regulatory, KYC and AML requirements.
• Tertiary qualification in Commerce, Business or Accounting.
