Director, CFO Advisory Finance

About the role

EY is seeking a Director for its CFO Advisory team to lead complex accounting and reporting engagements for a diverse client base, ranging from middle‑market firms to global corporations. The role is hybrid, based in Sydney, and offers flexible working arrangements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engagements end‑to‑end, including planning, stakeholder management, risk oversight and team development.
• Interpret and implement current, proposed or revised accounting standards (AAS, IFRS) for client transactions and reporting.
• Provide accounting impact analysis across the transaction lifecycle – IPOs, equity/debt raisings, acquisitions, divestments and due‑diligence.
• Support post‑deal implementation, audit preparation and remediation activities.
• Contribute to practice strategy, business development and proposal delivery.
• Build and maintain long‑term client relationships in collaboration with Australian Account teams.

Required profile

• CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant experience, preferably in professional services.
• Proven ability to develop and manage relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Strong commercial acumen and experience delivering complex accounting projects.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of AAS and IFRS accounting standards.
• Expertise in financial reporting, audit remediation and transaction accounting.
• Ability to translate complex technical accounting issues into clear stakeholder guidance.
