DevOps Engineer – EKS & API Gateway (Financial Services)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our financial services team in Sydney. The role focuses on operating and evolving a Kubernetes‑based API gateway platform built on Amazon EKS, working in a hybrid environment (three days onsite).

Key responsibilities

• Manage and optimise Kubernetes‑based gateway technologies to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex platform, Kubernetes and application deployment issues.
• Drive automation and enable self‑service capabilities for development teams.
• Contribute to platform reliability, observability and operational excellence.
• Assist with migration from legacy reverse‑proxy infrastructure to the strategic cloud‑native gateway architecture.

Required profile

• Expert DevOps experience with Amazon EKS.
• Strong background supporting API or service gateway platforms.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes administration and operations.
• Experience with Gloo Gateway or similar API gateway technologies.
• Proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Proven ability to build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and containerised applications.
