Destination and Events Coordinator

About the role

Wagga Wagga City Council is looking for an experienced and motivated Destination and Events Coordinator to lead the strategic development of the visitor economy and events portfolio. You will shape how people experience the city by connecting community, culture, and place through high‑quality events and innovative destination marketing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multi‑disciplined team delivering destination management, event delivery and a seven‑day Visitor Information Centre service.
• Develop and implement the 2025‑2034 Destination Management Plan and the Council’s Events Strategy and Action Plan.
• Secure grant funding and deliver major tourism projects funded through NSW Government programs.
• Manage core visitor‑economy marketing channels and annual campaigns.
• Oversee facility management of the nationally accredited Visitor Information Centre and retail outlet.
• Develop, deliver and evaluate city events, festivals and sponsorship activities.
• Produce public presentations, media interviews and regular reporting on visitor‑economy impact.
• Maintain networks with tourism bodies, business groups, government agencies and community stakeholders.

Required profile

• Experienced and motivated professional with a background in destination management and events.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects.
• Strong understanding of tourism funding mechanisms and stakeholder engagement.

• Fortnightly remuneration of $4,101.76 gross, progressing to $4,922.11 gross plus 12% superannuation.
