Design Manager

About the role

Paragon Engineering, a specialist engineering consultancy serving the infrastructure and building sectors across Australia, is creating a new Design Manager position in its Liverpool team. The role acts as a key interface between internal design teams and external stakeholders, and offers the chance to shape internal systems and streamline processes. Working hours are flexible.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise between internal design, geotechnical and structural teams and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives and deliverables, translating client requirements into designs.
• Coordinate project schedules, track progress and attend project meetings, keeping milestones on time.
• Inspect and assess infrastructure assets such as bridges and wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
• Prepare detailed inspection and condition assessment reports, analyses and recommendations.
• Oversee control of project documents, including emails, progress reports and technical documentation.
• Monitor project budgets and invoicing and report on financial performance.
• Assist with project compliance and quality assurance across disciplines.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Coordinator in a design office or consultancy in Australia, preferably on infrastructure assets or multidisciplinary projects; more experienced candidates encouraged to apply.
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
• Strong knowledge of basic design principles, especially in structural and/or geotechnical projects.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with strong technical reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Knowledge of engineering and drafting software.
