Design Coordinator / Design Engineer

About the role

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Design Coordinator/Engineer to support the Beerwah Coast Connect Alliance project in Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. The role involves providing engineering support across bidding, tendering and delivery phases for the Stage 1 Brownfield Package of The Wave.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical engineering support to drive excellence, innovation and risk mitigation throughout project phases.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Design Managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high‑quality outcomes on time and within budget.
• Contribute to design development, alternative construction methodologies and DfMA solutions to improve efficiency and value.
• Support Digital Engineering activities such as model coordination, clash detection and implementation of digital delivery processes.
• Champion safety, wellbeing and environmental culture, embedding Safety in Design principles.

Required profile

• Degree qualified in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Geotechnical or related engineering discipline.
• Experience in design engineering with solid understanding of design codes, specifications and quality assurance processes.
• Proven ability to build effective relationships with multidisciplinary project teams, consultants, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Proactive, organised with strong planning, communication and technical coordination skills.

Required skills

• Digital Engineering tools such as Navisworks.
• 3D modelling software experience (Revit, Tekla or similar).
