About the role

Cannington Community College seeks an enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to deliver engaging Metalwork and Woodwork programmes for Years 7–10. The role involves creating safe, inclusive workshop environments that foster creativity and practical skills.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and teach Metalwork and Woodwork curricula across secondary year levels.
• Integrate Computer‑Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, laser cutting and other digital manufacturing technologies into lessons.
• Maintain high standards of workshop safety, manage resources and equipment.
• Develop inclusive, purposeful learning programs aligned with the WA Design and Technologies Curriculum.

• Passionate about Design and Technology education and student achievement.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
• Effective classroom and workshop management with a focus on safety.
• Commitment to inclusive learning environments.

Required skills

• Metalwork and Woodwork teaching experience.
• Proficiency in CAD software.
• Experience with digital manufacturing (3D printing, laser cutting).
• Technical drawing and contemporary fabrication processes.
• Workshop safety and risk management.
