Department Manager – Retail (Burnie)

About the role
As a Department Manager at Bunnings in Burnie, you will lead a high‑energy team responsible for daily operations, sales performance and stock management within a specialist retail area. You will work closely with other department heads and report to the Operations and Complex Managers.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 20+ staff, ensuring a safe and engaging work environment.
- Oversee opening and closing duties, acting as duty manager on weekdays and weekends.
- Plan rosters, set targets and drive department sales through effective merchandising.
- Monitor customer service metrics, respond to feedback and continuously improve the customer experience.
- Maintain stock accuracy, manage replenishment, adjustments and loss‑prevention processes.
- Liaise with merchandising, store leadership, health & safety and supplier teams.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience managing large retail teams (20+ members).
- Strong focus on safety, wellbeing and compliance.
- Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and drive KPI achievement.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
