Department Manager – Hobart Area

About the role

As a Department Manager at Bunnings you will own the daily operations, sales performance and high‑volume stock management for your specialist area. You will lead a team of 20+ colleagues, work closely with other department managers and report to the Operations and Complex Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 20+ staff, ensuring a safe and engaged work environment.
• Perform duty manager duties, including opening and closing the store on weekdays and weekends.
• Plan rosters, set strategic goals and drive department sales through effective merchandising and KPI monitoring.
• Maintain stock accuracy, manage replenishment, adjustments and loss‑prevention processes.
• Monitor customer service levels, act on feedback and collaborate with merchandising, health & safety and supplier teams.
• Work a minimum 1 in 3 weekend roster and occasional public holidays.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience managing large teams (20+ members) in a retail or similar environment.
• Strong focus on safety, wellbeing and compliance.
• Ability to influence multiple stakeholders and drive KPI‑focused results.
• Excellent communication and coaching skills to deliver the “Best Experience” for customers.
• Experience in stock management, merchandising and loss prevention is preferred.
