Dental Assistant - Melbourne

About the role

A well-established dental practice in Melbourne is looking for an experienced Dental Assistant to provide clinical support in a busy practice. You will help ensure efficient patient flow and assist with a broad range of dental treatments alongside experienced dentists.

Key responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance in general and restorative dentistry
• Assist with extractions, root canal therapy, crowns, bridges and fillings, and more complex procedures where required
• Prepare treatment rooms and anticipate the clinical needs of dentists
• Maintain infection prevention and sterilisation standards
• Manage dental instruments, materials and clinical supplies
• Reassure and support patients before, during and after treatment
• Maintain accurate clinical records and support appointment workflows
• Assist less experienced team members where appropriate

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Dental Assistant, ideally in Australia
• Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting highly regarded
• Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced dental environment
• Excellent time management, multitasking and communication skills
• Proactive attitude and ability to work independently

Required skills

• Strong chairside assisting skills across general dental procedures
• Knowledge of infection control, sterilisation and clinical protocols
• Experience with dental practice management software is advantageous
