Defect Inspector - Off-the-Plan Homes

About the role

A reputable property group with over a decade in the Australian residential market is hiring a casual Defect Inspector in Melbourne. The role inspects off-the-plan apartments and homes before handover across the Melbourne CBD, finding and recording defects so the client can deliver a quality finished product. Full training is provided.

Key responsibilities

• Complete thorough defect inspections on new apartments and homes using the inspection platform
• Take purchasers through their pre-settlement inspections alongside the settlement team
• Record inspection details clearly, consistently and accurately
• Learn each project's inspection requirements and workmanship standards
• Work professionally with site teams, builders and other stakeholders
• Carry out other tasks depending on the project assigned

Required profile

• Current Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Availability for at least 3 days per week when projects are running; hours depend on project volume
• Professional presentation and strong customer service skills
• Confidence walking purchasers through their new home and answering their questions
• Strong attention to detail and good written communication
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Highly regarded but not essential: a Bachelor of Construction Management (completed or in progress), customer-facing experience, or construction/off-the-plan property experience
