Database Developer – 12‑month contract

About the role

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking an experienced Database Developer to join the CTO Transition Program. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract (extendable) based in the Australian Capital Territory, requiring on‑site presence for team and stakeholder meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Translate supplied data schemas into Django models.
• Develop access‑control mechanisms, view/filter/search functionality, and data workflow processes.
• Build a Web API to expose stored data via defined URLs.
• Implement automated build, test, and deployment pipelines using CI/CD tools.
• Provide diagnostic logging and support capabilities.
• Collaborate in a small team, sharing knowledge and mentoring junior members.
• Maintain records in line with AFP buyer requirements.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship with an active NV1 security clearance (or ability to obtain one).
• Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent industry certifications.
• Experience working in small, collaborative teams.
