Data Security Lead - Microsoft Purview

About the role

The Data Security Lead is responsible for designing, implementing and governing Microsoft Purview capabilities across the client environment. The role defines and deploys data classification, information protection, records management, data lifecycle management, compliance controls and information governance policies to meet client security, regulatory and operational needs. It works closely with security, compliance, information management and business stakeholders to integrate Purview into the broader Microsoft 365 solution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of Microsoft Purview capabilities
• Define data classification, sensitivity labelling and information protection strategies
• Design retention, records management, disposition and information lifecycle controls
• Configure and govern compliance and risk management capabilities
• Support Information Asset Management and Data Governance requirements
• Define metadata, taxonomy and information governance approaches
• Work with security and architecture teams to align governance controls with client requirements
• Provide guidance on compliance, auditability and records management outcomes
• Support design documentation, workshops, testing and operational handover

Required profile

• Preferred: designing and implementing Microsoft Purview solutions in large or regulated organisations
• Preferred: experience in information governance, records management and compliance programs
• Preferred: knowledge of Australian Government information security and recordkeeping requirements
• Preferred: experience in highly secure or regulated environments
• Australian citizenship required; security clearance highly regarded
