Data Platform Engineer

About the role

EatClub is looking for a Data Platform Engineer to own and operate the ingestion, orchestration, governance and cost‑optimization of its Databricks lakehouse. You will work closely with analytics and data science teams to ensure reliable, high‑quality data pipelines that power business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Build and operate ingestion pipelines into the bronze layer, handling schema evolution, CDC feeds and third‑party APIs.
• Own orchestration workflows (scheduling, retries, alerting) and enforce SLAs for daily business datasets.
• Implement CI/CD best practices, trunk‑based development, automated tests and promotion across environments.
• Govern the platform with grants, lineage, tagging, row/column‑level security and safe external data sharing.
• Manage cost and performance by right‑sizing warehouses, tuning partitioning, clustering and incremental strategies.
• Develop data quality and observability checks (freshness, volume, schema) and provide rapid root‑cause analysis for broken dashboards.

Required profile

• Strong experience writing and optimizing SQL for commercial‑scale products.
• Proficiency in Python for data engineering tasks.
• Hands‑on experience building production pipelines on a cloud data platform.
• Familiarity with AI‑first tooling such as Claude Code and agentic workflows.
