Data Platform Architect

About the role

Elysium Digital is seeking a Principal Data Platform Architect to design and deliver modern data platforms for government and enterprise clients. The role bridges architecture and delivery, guiding teams from concept through implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Design modern data platforms using Microsoft Fabric, Azure and Power BI.
• Define pragmatic architecture patterns and lead migration initiatives from legacy systems such as Synapse and SQL Server.
• Coach engineering teams, conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance across multiple engagements.
• Establish security, governance, metadata, lineage and access‑control patterns.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship and willingness to obtain AGSVA security clearance.
• Significant experience as a Data Architect, Data Platform Architect or Lead Data Engineer.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, lakehouses, warehouses, Data Factory pipelines, notebooks, deployment pipelines, workspace and capacity management).
• Strong understanding of the broader Microsoft data ecosystem (Power BI, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Microsoft Purview, Entra ID).
• Proven track record delivering data platform migrations and modernisation programmes.

• Data modelling across lakehouse, warehouse and semantic layers.
• Governance, security, metadata and lineage implementation.
• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, AWS or GCP data platforms (preferred).
• Relevant Microsoft certifications (DP‑600, DP‑700, AZ‑305).
