Data Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer to join our Data and Insights team. You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our data platform, ensuring its stability, scalability, and security while building pipelines that support analytics and reporting across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance in‑house PySpark frameworks to promote standardisation and reuse.
• Mentor junior team members and up‑skill the broader analytics community.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality data‑driven solutions.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and design end‑to‑end data engineering solutions.
• Build, test, and implement ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Framework, Azure Databricks, other Azure services, Python and PySpark.
• Deliver solutions on time using Azure DevOps, Git, and Azure Pipelines with automated testing and documentation.
• Monitor and support batch operations of the Data and Insights platform.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in a similar data engineering role within a complex data environment.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure Cloud Services and Azure Data Services (Databricks, Data Factory, SQL Server, Storage).
• Advanced knowledge of SQL, PySpark, and Python.
• Proficiency with Azure DevOps, Git, Azure Pipelines, Power BI and PowerShell.
