Data Engineer - Canberra

About the role

Vivanti Consulting, a global tech consultancy, is hiring a Data Engineer in Canberra to work on critical public sector engagements. The role is described as the builder behind data: ensuring data flows cleanly and reliably, with work shared across industries, clients and technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build pipelines to ingest, transform and load data
• Set up data lakes and warehouses for scalable access
• Keep systems secure, reliable and cost-effective
• Collaborate with analysts, ML engineers and platform teams

Required profile

• Experience in data or tech is welcome; the role is open to people at different experience levels and career stages
• Ability to solve problems, think critically and stay curious
• Enjoys learning from others, experimenting with new tools and balancing independent work with teamwork
• Australian citizen eligible for an Australian Government security clearance (Baseline, NV1 or NV2)

Required skills

• Core engineering: advanced Python, Spark and SQL
• Modern data stack: Fabric, Databricks and cloud services (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Graph databases such as Neo4j or similar
• AI and machine learning frameworks for data transformation
