Data Analyst – APS6 (Hybrid, Sydney/Melbourne/Canberra)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced APS6 Data Analyst to join a Federal Government agency delivering high‑impact data solutions that support critical national services. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work from Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra while collaborating with a skilled team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise data assets and data products.
• Analyse, profile and validate complex data from multiple sources.
• Translate business requirements into coded data transformations.
• Develop prototypes and new data products to support business outcomes.
• Perform data quality assessment, testing and defect remediation.
• Present technical concepts and findings to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to code quality, documentation standards and knowledge sharing.
• Support junior team members and collaborate on problem solving.

Required profile

• Extensive experience analysing large, complex datasets.
• Strong programming skills in SQL and at least one of Python, SAS or R.
• Hands‑on experience with Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environments.
• Proficiency in data modelling, data pipelines and reporting platform architecture.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Self‑managed, able to handle competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• Excellent relationship‑building with both business and technical stakeholders.
