Cyber Security Analyst – SOC Operations & Threat Hunting

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Analyst to join a well‑established public sector organisation in Western Australia. You will work within a security‑focused team to monitor, investigate and respond to incidents across enterprise environments, while contributing to threat intelligence and vulnerability management programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse security events, alerts and incidents using a SIEM platform.
• Perform SOC activities including incident triage, investigation and response.
• Conduct threat hunting and threat intelligence analysis.
• Support vulnerability assessments, security reviews and audit activities.
• Assist with penetration testing and security validation exercises.
• Perform security assessments of systems, applications and cloud environments.
• Prepare security reports, recommendations and technical documentation.
• Support compliance with cyber security frameworks and best practices.

Required profile

• Experience in cyber security operations, SOC or security analyst roles.
• Strong incident detection, investigation and response capabilities.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in cyber security, IT or related field.
• Industry certifications such as Security+, CEH, SC‑200, AZ‑500, CISSP are highly regarded.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 security services.
• Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and security assessment practices.
• Understanding of network security technologies – firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, web proxies and endpoint security solutions.
• Experience with threat hunting, threat intelligence and indicators of compromise.
