Counsellor ROSA - Full Time, Townsville

About the role

Centacare North Queensland is seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor for its ROSA Program in Townsville. The role provides therapeutic support to children and young people aged 6 to 18 who have experienced trauma, disrupted attachment and are involved with the child protection system, within a collaborative, trauma-informed multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people aged 6 to 18.
• Assess therapeutic needs and develop individualised therapy plans.
• Work with Child Safety, carers, schools and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
• Support each child's care team with education and strategies that promote emotional regulation, resilience and recovery.
• Maintain accurate client records and case documentation.
• Monitor therapeutic progress and advocate for children within best practice and legislative requirements.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science or a related discipline.
• Experience or knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory and child development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
• A current driver's licence.
• Applicants must have appropriate work rights in Australia.

Required skills

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Knowledge of the Queensland Child Protection System (desirable).
• Engaging young people using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
