Control Systems Engineer

About the role

Pacific Energy is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to provide technical and project support across SCADA and control system design. The role can be based in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane or Darwin and involves working with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review technical documentation, specifications and functional design materials.
• Support SCADA and control system design, optimisation, change management and equipment specification.
• Deliver engineering work across the full project lifecycle, including control logic, schematics and software testing.
• Collaborate with commissioning teams on ITRs, ITPs, FAT/SAT and commissioning activities.
• Provide site‑based engineering and operational support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Permanent full working rights in Australia.
• Strong understanding of engineering principles, design processes and project delivery.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Experience with SCADA and HMI development.
• Knowledge of control system design, instrumentation and OT networking.
• Proficiency in technical writing, documentation and specification development.
• Familiarity with generator control platforms (e.g., ComAp) and LNG SCADA systems.
• Understanding of Australian Standards, safety‑in‑design principles and statutory requirements.
