Control Room Operator – Maternity Leave Coverage

About the role

A leading underground coal mining operation is seeking an experienced Control Room Operator to cover maternity leave at its Moranbah North site until July 2027. The role supports underground operations, communications, monitoring and incident management. It is advertised as a casual position at $80 per hour, with camp accommodation and meals provided.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and coordinate underground personnel and equipment movements across the mine site
• Maintain communication between underground crews, supervisors and management teams
• Monitor environmental and operational systems and report issues as required
• Maintain production records, shift reports and operational documentation
• Coordinate resources and respond to operational disruptions and breakdowns
• Support emergency response and act as the central communication point during incidents
• Provide production updates and performance reporting to site leadership
• Help maintain operational registers and site compliance documentation

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Control Room Operator in an underground coal mining environment
• Current Standard 11 and current Coal Board medical
• Working knowledge of underground coal mining operations
• Current driver's licence and ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol screening
