Plant Mechanic - Field Service

About the role

An established equipment service business serving customers in the heavy plant, construction and infrastructure sectors is looking for an experienced Plant Mechanic / Field Service Technician based in Windsor. The role covers maintaining, diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment and diesel-powered machinery, within a permanent, 38-hour-week field service position.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled servicing, maintenance and repairs on heavy plant and equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and diesel engine faults
• Perform repairs and maintenance on a range of heavy machinery
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and resolve technical issues
• Inspect machinery to identify faults and ensure safe, reliable operation
• Conduct preventative maintenance to minimise equipment downtime
• Provide technical support and complete service work to a high standard
• Maintain accurate service records and follow workplace safety procedures

Required profile

• Certificate III in Mobile Plant, Heavy Diesel, Engineering or a related mechanical trade
• Previous experience servicing and repairing heavy plant, diesel-powered machinery or similar equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving skills
• Professional communication skills and a commitment to workplace safety
• Current driver's licence and ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment

Required skills

• Fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical, hydraulic and diesel engine systems
• Experience with Cummins engines, heavy plant or earthmoving equipment is highly regarded
