Consultant / Senior Consultant – Construction Claims Expert

About the role

Callens Consult is seeking experienced consultants and senior consultants to join its specialist team providing expert witness, shadow expert and claims services across the building, engineering and construction sector. The positions are full‑time and involve working closely with senior lead experts to support clients in litigation, arbitration and dispute resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed research and analysis of project records, contracts and technical data.
• Review and interpret complex contractual and financial information.
• Draft clear, evidence‑based written reports, summaries and professional correspondence.
• Assist senior experts in developing claim or defence strategies and preparing related documentation.
• Deliver “shadow” expert services, supporting clients, contractors and subcontractors.
• Liaise with clients, manage project timelines and ensure deliverables meet high professional and ethical standards.

Required profile

• 4+ years post‑graduate experience for consultant level; 8+ years for senior consultant level.
• Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or an equivalent discipline.
• Professional membership of RICS, AIQS or CIArb is a distinct advantage.
• Strong analytical, research and report‑writing abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of commercial principles, contracts and dispute‑resolution processes; exposure to litigation or arbitration is beneficial.
• Commitment to ethical practice, professional integrity and continuous learning.
