Construction Manager – Defence

About the role

Intract Australia is looking for an experienced Construction Manager to lead Defence construction projects from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will oversee site teams, subcontractors and project schedules while ensuring safety, quality and compliance across complex, high‑value projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead construction delivery on Defence projects from mobilisation to handover and defects close‑out.
• Manage site teams, subcontractors, programme schedules and construction methodology.
• Drive safety, quality, compliance and overall project performance.
• Coordinate sequencing, resources, logistics and site operations.
• Support tendering, constructability reviews and delivery planning.
• Build strong relationships with Defence stakeholders, consultants and subcontractors.
• Mentor Site Managers, Engineers and Supervisors.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Building or Engineering, or extensive senior site leadership experience.
• 10+ years’ construction management experience on major building or infrastructure projects.
• Defence or government project experience is highly regarded.
• Proven experience delivering projects valued at $20M+.
• Strong leadership, planning and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Defence Security Clearance.
