Compliance Specialist

About the role

Saab Australia is hiring a Compliance Specialist for its Ethics & Compliance team within the Legal & Commercial group. The role provides expert advice and support on compliance matters such as global trade compliance, sanctions, ethics, anti-bribery and corruption, conflicts of interest and regulatory compliance, working with stakeholders across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead compliance activities for allocated programs, projects and business areas
• Act as the primary Ethics & Compliance contact and subject matter expert
• Advise on trade compliance, sanctions and ethics obligations
• Conduct compliance audits, reviews and risk assessments
• Develop and deliver compliance training across the organisation
• Monitor regulatory changes and implement related process improvements
• Support and mentor junior members of the Legal & Commercial team

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Law with admission to legal practice, or a South Australian Legal Practising Certificate (or ability to obtain one)
• Australian citizenship, and the ability to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level
• Experience in compliance management within a complex or multi-jurisdiction organisation
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across diverse business groups

Required skills

• Knowledge of Australian and global trade regulations, including ITAR and EAR requirements
• Understanding of Australian Defence Industry procurement and contracting environments
• Ability to interpret and apply legislative and regulatory requirements
