Compliance Manager

About the role

The Compliance Manager role sits within the Risk Management function of the Group Support Units (GSU) at the bank's Sydney CBD area. It provides line 2 oversight of the GSU and reviews compliance activities across the support functions, including Marketing, Corporate Affairs, Finance, Property, HR, Strategy, M&A and Divestments, Legal, Group Secretariat, Speak-Up, Environmental and Social, Customer Advocate and Risk Management. The manager ensures business activities follow the Compliance Management Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to designing, implementing and improving GSU compliance processes and procedures.
• Analyse the regulatory environment and assess the impact of proposed, new and amended laws, regulations and industry codes.
• Identify legal and regulatory obligations for the support functions and review the adequacy of controls and compliance levels.
• Evaluate and advise on compliance issues and incidents, and work with other business areas on cross-unit compliance matters.
• Support reporting on compliance exposures, such as reports to Non-Financial Risk Committees.
• Assist in planning and running compliance monitoring to agreed schedules.
• Help ensure the Compliance Risk Management Framework operates effectively, including assessing compliance risks.
• Develop and deliver compliance training to line 1 risk staff and advise them on compliance matters.
• Build strong working relationships with Group functions, line 1 risk and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• Ideally experience in risk and compliance within financial services.
• Knowledge of compliance, legal and privacy obligations.
• Demonstrated experience in compliance monitoring and assurance activities.
• Ability to influence and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Self-starter who can adapt to changing business needs and works in a team-focused way.
