Community Transport Driver (Casual)

About the role

Stryder is a long-established community transport provider helping people who find mainstream transport difficult, because of age, frailty or disability, to live independently and access their community. It provides door-to-door transport such as medical and everyday appointments, social outings, shopping trips, NDIS transport, shuttle services and bus hire, serving elderly people, people with disabilities and NDIS participants. The driver position is a key role in delivering scheduled door-to-door transport and reports directly to the Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Drive cars, vans and small buses for scheduled door-to-door transport services
• Assist clients to and from their door, into the vehicle and ensure they are comfortably and safely seated
• Store and secure mobility devices

Required profile

• Casual employment under the PVTA Award; salary sacrifice available
• Shifts may be Monday to Sunday, usually daytime, with some evenings; flexible, mutually agreed shifts
• Good communication skills, empathic and caring nature, able to work independently and with volunteers
• Current NSW Light Rigid Licence or higher, NSW Bus Driver Authority (including mandatory medical) and NSW Point to Point Driver Authority
• Clear National Criminal History Check and clear NDIS Workers Check
• Current Working with Children Check verified by Stryder
• Current First Aid Certificate, good driving record and basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance

Desirable criteria

• Certificate III in Aged Care, Disability or similar
• Previous driver experience in community services or general transportation
• Experience supporting elderly people, people with disabilities and people with health-related issues
• Geographical knowledge of Ryde and Hunters Hill local government areas
• Bilingualism (Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Farsi, Arabic, etc.) is an advantage
