Community Support Worker - Ivanhoe & Preston

About the role

Ivanhoe & Preston is seeking experienced, compassionate Community Support Workers to provide high-quality care to clients living with complex disabilities, including non-verbal people, in Ivanhoe & Preston (City of Banyule and City of Darebin Council). The work is described as high care, with two care programs and shift patterns listed.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver support care to clients with a high level of disability.
• Provide high care including domestic assistance, meal preparation, PEG feeding, complex bowel care, manual handling and companionship.
• Support clients with social support, transport to appointments, shopping or community outings.
• Provide personal care with dignity and respect, such as assisting with showering, grooming and dressing.
• Interact respectfully with the client's dog while supporting the client.

Required profile

• Passionate, caring and empathetic personality (a must).
• Fluent in English and a very clear communicator.
• Certificate III or IV in Community, Aged Care, Disability or equivalent (a must).
• Registered and insured vehicle, and a valid full or probationary Australian driver's licence.
• Willingness to learn new skills on the job through training.
• Experience in aged care or community, and with high care clients, is highly desirable.
• Current First Aid & CPR certificate (mandatory) or willingness to obtain one; current police check (mandatory) or willingness to obtain one; NDIS worker screening check, Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain them.
