Community Social Volunteer - Hammond at Home

About the role

HammondCare is looking for volunteers to join its Volunteer Social Visitors team in South West Sydney. As a volunteer social visitor, you will provide companionship and meaningful social interaction for older people living in their own homes in Padstow, Panania and Picnic Point. Visits might include a walk around the garden, a game of cards or simply chatting over a cup of tea.

Key responsibilities

• Visit an elderly person in their own home and offer companionship and social interaction.
• Share your interests with the person you visit, such as sport, art, pets, gardening, walking, yoga, baking, crafts, movies, music, coffee or crosswords.
• Carry out visits of about one hour, scheduled during the week between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Sunday.
• Visit frequency depends on your availability, from weekly to fortnightly.

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older.
• A passion for giving back to the community of South West Sydney.
• National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.
