Community Operations Accountant

About the role

Lifestyle Communities provides affordable, inclusive independent living communities across Victoria. It is seeking a Community Operations Accountant to deliver accurate, timely financial reporting across its community portfolio, maintain strong financial controls and provide analysis of financial and operational performance. The role supports month-end management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, year-end statutory reporting and continuous improvement of finance processes. It is predominantly based in the Southbank support office.

Key responsibilities

• Month-end accounting and management reporting for the community portfolio, including monthly profit and loss statements
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documentation
• Analyse financial and operational drivers, identify trends, risks and opportunities and report them to the Senior Finance Business Partner and stakeholders
• Support annual budgets and periodic forecasts
• Check home settlements (sale price, deposits, incentives, adjustments, proceeds) and ensure settlement transactions are recorded accurately
• Assist with half-year and year-end statutory reporting and prepare schedules and reconciliations for external audit
• Maintain financial controls and help make financial information clear and commercially relevant

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• CA or CPA qualified
• Experience in management accounting, financial accounting or property accounting
• Experience analysing financial results and explaining performance drivers
• Experience in property, retirement living, land lease communities, hospitality or another multi-site business is highly regarded

Required skills

• Strong month-end accounting and balance sheet reconciliation
• Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP and financial reporting systems
• Understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
