Community Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Community Manager to own our Discord, Reddit and social channels, acting as Shockbyte’s public face online and the community’s voice inside the company. This is a full‑time junior role based in Melbourne, with flexible hours and a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Run our Discord day‑to‑day: announcements, offers, events, Q&As and moderation.
• Engage members on Discord, Reddit and social media with quick, personal replies and help them self‑serve.
• Post official replies in hosting threads on Reddit and update players on outages or new game launches.
• Spot issues early, flag them to product/support teams and summarise common complaints in a monthly report.
• Organise regular events, giveaways and build a moderator/ambassador program.
• Track brand mentions with a social listening tool and report sentiment, engagement and reply times.

Required profile

• Experience running or moderating an online community (Discord, subreddit or forum), volunteer work counts.
• Strong knowledge of Discord roles, permissions, bots and moderation tools.
• Familiarity with Reddit posting as a brand without sounding like an ad.
• Passion for multiplayer games, especially Minecraft, and ability to discuss servers, mods and plugins.
• Clear, friendly writing style and ability to stay calm under public criticism.
• Based in Melbourne with full working rights in Australia and able to work onsite 2‑3 days a week.
